Need ideas for landscaping very small area.?
Our apartment has an area of land TINY patio in back it to our room, living room, kitchen and dining room. The area is 4 'long and just over a foot wide (deep) rectangular. The back and sides are left against a fence and the two other sides are surrounded by concrete. I want to use this small area to add some astetic value on the patio. Something nice, makes you want to spend time outdoors. I live in North Carolina, in zone 7 on the two types of zoning graphs. The area drains while the opposite side of the fence sloaps back down. I thought about using the space to grow herbs my roommate and I both enjoy cooking. Perhaps planting flowers, or something that crept up the fence (I'm not sure how the owner would feel about that one). And of course … we're on a budget. All ideas are appreciated!
Why not do something that will be mounted and flowers. Something that will be nice to look and adding value to your patio. Look at some climbing vine in bloom. Check from the nursery on how your selection be invasive. You do not want the vines to destroy something and you need to know how to prune and keep it under control. Look Bouganvilla, Carolina Jasmine, Star Jasmine, perhaps a climber or Crossvine. Wisteria is beautiful, but you would probably need something else to do to hang. A glycine is really strong and can crush things that you want to keep. Good luck. Use your local professionals or nursery, not Lowes or Home Depot.
